Farmouse Kitchen Sign Tutorial

I recently attended a local GNO craft event in my home town. The craft class was lead by an instructor who walked us through making a farmhouse sign. There were several different styles to chose from but I chose this "jams & jellies" sign for my kitchen.
If you are wondering "how do they do that"?! Well, I am going to walk you thru the steps of making a sign.
First you start off with your wood cut to size and stained. Mine was a medium/dark stain because I knew I wanted the stain to show through when I distressed it, it had to be somewhat dark but NOT BLACK.
We used a chip brush to "dry brush" cream paint over our board. Don't get fancy or try to cover the board completely. This is supposed to look like an OLD sign so you want it to look as if it has been worn over time. We are NOT striving for perfection, but in stead, charm.
Once that dries, place your vinyl stencil over your board and make sure it is centered left to right, and top to bottom. Peel it back one half at a time and stick it on your board making sure it is centered. Peel the bottom part back and stick the last half to the board so the entire piece of vinyl is now adhered to the board.
Use a foam brush to DAB black paint over the open areas.
Once the paint is dry, peel off the vinyl, then distress lightly with a sanding block or piece of sand paper. Then voila! You just created your very own farmhouse sign!

It's strange,I grew up in a farm house, lived in a farm house for long periods of my life(31 years this present time) and will probably die in this farm house out here on top of old kings mountain.None of these 'FARM HOUSES"you show look like the ones I've lived in.I must have really missed out.
