No closet

Got any ideas for storing clothes in a very small bedroom that is also a craft room and has no closet?

  • ...Do you have maybe ONE short or medium sized wall you could utilize for use as a ' closet "..? A couple of options ....:I actually ' made a closet ' in a room that had no closet. I took heavy duty metal piping , sized for hangers, and attaches it to two opposite walls with plumbing metal plates. I then attached an extra closet bracket to the middle., to hold the pipe securely. ( You could also use a wooden one, but...THEY SAG. Yuck. ) Of course you could also use a regualr closet pole plate , but it needs to hold the metal pipe .I then used pretty drapes , hung from a higher drapery rod , to use as ' doors ' to the closet. I used 100 " panels using drapery clips . This allowed freedom of movemant with the drapes, and allowed them to be hung closer to the ceiling, which looks better. :) The other option is a ' ready made ' clothes closet, they have really nice cloth ones these days, and most of them are quite spacious.

That sounds good. I could ask the landlord if I could do that. Really I don't think it's code to call a room without a closet a bedroom. I think twin size sheets would be long enough to go from ceiling to floor. Ceilings here are 8'. I'm really getting some good ideas now. Thanks.

I had a similar situation years ago... small room, with little to no storage. Large furniture such as dressers, or wardrobes would engulf the room; making it appear even smaller. At my local thrift store, I found some vintage suitcases to store clothing. I stair stacked them, and they doubled as shelves. Old steamer trunks work well also. It could double as a table. Or, if you were able to find 2, you could put a board across the top, and use it as a desk/work area. Multipurpose & multifunctional work great in small spaces.

I guess I should have elaborated a little more. I am handicapped and cannot do any lifting. The house has forces air so any storage has to be closed because of the dust. Thanks for the input.

Milk crates. You can store in them, sit on them and use for short or coffee or end tables and there are stackable

Robin-- Are you able to get up and down ok? If so, enlist some friends to put your bed on risers. (They're inexpensive, available at Big Lots.) It raises the bed maybe 6-7 inches, enough where you can store stuff beneath the bed. Zippered sweater bags and zippered clothing bags would lay neatly--out of the way, but easily accessible...and without taking up an inch of precious real estate in the bedroom. Good luck.

i had this problem at a previous residence , so i got a steel bed base at walmart and it raised my bed high enough off the floor that plastic storage bins fit underneath it .... i would store things seasonally .
