Jewelry hanger/ display

Question

I need some help with how to hang my jewelry (i.e. necklaces, bracelets, earrings). Right now I have my necklaces and bracelets on upside down candle holders and my earrings in a plain plastic box like a plastic tackle box. The box in the photo is not my jewerly box but one similiar. Would like a more attractive way to hang/ display my jewelry (non are real expensive and can be cleaned easily). Someone suggested using a peg board with hooks for my necklaces and bracelets. I need some major help with creating something. My husband is fairly good at woodworking but does not have any specialty tools just a jig saw, circular saw, drill and such. We live in an apartment so can't have any big equipment. I would like something that I can hang on the wall.

I took an old picture frame and took out the backing and glass. Then I stapled dress netting (the sort they used to make sticky out undershirts on ballroom dancing gowns from) to the back of it, but I only stapled the top and the bottom NOT the sides. That way if you want to put earrings on posts(with 'butterfly' fasteners on the back) onto it you can easily slip your fingers behind the netting. I screwed cup hooks along the sides and bottom for necklaces etc. I added a wire hanger on the back and put it on the wall. My earrings with hooks are hung in the middle, my post earrings at the edges along with any brooches and necklaces and bracelets from the hooks. It looks brilliant! and SO colourful. Friends are very impressed and have asked me to make them one too. I hpe this helps.

I pinned a dark hand towel on a wire hanger and put all my brooches on that so I could see them all at once. You could hang other jewelry with safety pins.

I had an old pallet frame, painted it with a couple different colors and put hooks on it. I love it. Now I can see all my things and decide more easily!

I found an old shelf and frame at Goodwill and have been happy with the amount of jewelry they are able to hold. The frame has small gauge wire in it great for earrings, and it has some nails for hanging earrings or braclets and a knob for chains.

if you can find old slacks hangers with about 4 tiers they work great just hand it on a wall and it will hold many necklaces and use one for bracelets they work great .. you can find them in a lot of sally anns or goodwill stores

I think your upside down candle holders look great. But they do look a bit top heavy so perhaps they are not stable.

For necklaces and bracelets I went to Joanne's to the sewing department and bought a wooden wall mount thread holder.  They are unpainted and come in a couple sizes.  For earrings I use vintage earring holders I found on eBay. But I also liked the idea of a beautiful vintage or custom painted picture frame with chicken wire tacked to the back.

I use a cork board & hang it on a wall. Just push posts earrings in to the cork and use push pins into the cork to hang pierced earrings with wires, necklaces and some bracelets. I have also used Freestanding coffee cup holders.

Many good suggestions here! An upright paper towel holder or tall candlestick holder will hold lots of bracelets, a men's tie rack holds a lot of necklaces and a stand up coffee cup holder works well. Most of these can be found at thrift stores.

So many of these ideas already posted are great so I am just going to tack mine onto theirs. If you want to pull several of these ideas together, you can make your jewelry hanging a piece of wall art by deciding how much wall space you have and then get your local hardware store to cut a piece of finished plywood that size. Paint it and all the different things you choose---hooks, cork board, pants hangar, spool holder (so many great ideas) for organizing your jewelry. Paint the board a color that works with your decor or paint it black or white so that your jewelry becomes the color; spray the hooks, hangers etc. a different neutral or metallic. Then attach each piece to the wood. 
 Interesting Drawer pulls (not painted) also make great necklace/bracelet hangers. If you need to attach bolts to the back of the plywood, just have 4 small wood squares cut, mount these to your wall to raise the plywood off the wall & then screw the 4 corners of your plywood into these.(Just be sure your squares are large enough to hold both screws.) The wood piece can be a little heavy, so be sure to use anchor screws in the wall for support. The only tool you would need for this is a battery powered screw driver. If one piece of wood is too large, have it cut in half and just do the same thing in two sections. Now you have a beautiful art piece for your wall. Also, don't feel that your jewelry has to go in your bedroom--a hallway, den, or guest bedroom could also be used.

Use a cork board and push pins. Works great. All hang straight and easy to find any necklace by seeing all of them.

I placed push pins directly behind the door of my closet onto the dry wall as it was unused space. You can place them as high as you can reach and stagger rows of the push pins so the second row of push pins are in between the push pins above and so on down the wall. then hang your necklaces on them. In retrospect I would have gotten poster boards and attached those to the wall and then put the push pins into the poster board so I wouldn't have so many little holes in my wall if I decide on another option. For my ear-rings I used a pool noodle (one side sliced through to the middle of the noodle) and placed it over about a section of the lower closet rod and just stabbed the earrings into that. For earrings with backs, I placed the backs in a small bowl on the shelf above the lower rod. I have two stand-up type paper towel holders on the shelf above the rod with the pool noodle and have bracelets stacked on them. Only thing about that, you have to remove the bracelets that are above the one you want to wear, but it's no big deal. Since arranging all this, I've worn a lot more of my costume jewelry because it is where I can see it and not stuck in a drawer or jewelry chest where I forget about it. If you have expensive and/or vintage necklaces, don't hang them. It will stretch and ruin them, especially if they're strung with string.
