I want to make something really neat to hang necklaces on for my mother. Any ideas?

Don't hang necklaces.  Wires and cords stretch over time when you do that, andyou en up with spaces between beads that linch hair at the back of your neck.  Only hang necklaces made of chains.

If you make a 'normal' coat rack... as in 1 board... and multiple wooden knobs... just place the knobs closer together... or... just screw in cup hooks... and there you have it... as long as you like... to hold as much as you like!

I used to have a magazine rack that I used. It was two pieces of wood on the sides with very small dial rods going across. I attached it to a wall and hung necklaces and bracelets on it.

I use one of those old folding wood racks that have pegs. You can expand it to just your right size. I have another behind the door to the laundry room to hang extra hangers - very handy.

Find pretty door knobs, attach them to a piece of wood that you have either painted or stained. Find a spot in your Mom's home to hang it then hang the necklaces from the knobs.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! Of course my mom figured out a way to hang her jewelry anyway so I didn't make her anything :( But I plan on doing something...not sure what yet.
