Lights for memorial garden

I have made a memorial garden for my daughter but it is in the shade. I tried solar powered lights and they won't work. Have no power to plug any type of light in to use. Please me find something I so love it in the daylight but want to enjoy in the evening. Thank You Darlene

I'm not sure. But, I'm thinking of all the tree and wreaths that are strung with lights. It seems to me many of those are operated by battery.

I think I would spring for a good quality extension cord, maybe with 3 outlets. I would dig a trench, place it and cover, letting it pop up where you need it. So all you have to do in the evening is plug it in.

If you use a power cord be sure to buy rated for outside! ( regular cord will be destroyed by sunlight it would be exposed at some place) Also plant white flowers they seem to glow in the evening moon light.

Examine the solar light strings for sale. Many of them have a solar collector that is up to 6 feet away from where the lights begin. Perhaps you would be able to place the collector in a sunny spot (think of going up).

When you said Memorial Garden immediately my mind went to glow in the dark paint I can imagine you going to the dollar store or to Goodwill and finding cheap statues of angels and butterflies and cheap planters or glass terrarium globes and painting them with white glow in the dark paint.. they're pretty in the daytime and they'd glow surreal after dark. It won't be enough light to read a book by but it certainly will add character to that area.

How many solar light's do you have? I would move them during daylight hr's then put them back in garden at dusk.I know it sound's like a lot of work but, A MEMORIAL garden is worth it. Good luck.

It is a bit more expensive, but Plow and Hearth sells battery powered glow lights--an orb with a battery powered light on a timer--inside. They come on automatically at the same time each night and run about 6 hours. There are amber ones and also ones where the color changes. If you have more than one you can set them to come on at different times. They are a bit fragile if you drop them, but did much better in the rain than I would have thought. The batteries last quite a while--AA's I think. Amazon may sell the same thing but its not cheaper as I recollect. Also they sell the battery powered timed candles separately more cheaply if you want to buy them and then make your own globe from mason jars or pickle jars you have frosted. I put some of these in my yard and enjoyed them quite a bit!
