Faux Finish - White Metal to WOOD!

Susanne Andrischok
by Susanne Andrischok
This was a white metal door in an all-wood house. Tape up your glass with painters tape and paper. No sanding needed.
Then spray a mustard yellow color on the door, and go back over it with just a tiny squirt or two of red here and there.
Paint with a mix of polyurethane and stain. Go over the flat areas of the door with a ROCKER. Take it easy and don't rock too much, or you will get very knotty looking wood. Paint the stain on the strips you may go over it several times, at least the strips. Seal with polyurethane for extra durability. It is, afterall, a door (used a lot).
