Looking for Japanese theme for teen bedroom

Dae
by Dae
My daughter loves the Japanese culture and I thought it would be great to have it as her bedroom theme. I am going to paint her dresser white and then paint a circle on it. That should be simple. She loves cherry blossoms, so will be be included. She has one was a nice bright orange. Any other idea would be appreciated. Take care.

Annas Linens has comforters with Japanese character on them. Also try to find bamboo and paper decorated umbrella that you could hang from corns or cut the handles very short and mount on the walls as art pieces. Downtown L A near 2nd Street and the 101 freeway is an area with a lot of shops that carry Japanese art items.

Bamboo or paper shades for the window. Could put a open paper umbrella hanging in a corner. Bamboo stalk in water. Could put molding in a asian design or bamboo or soji paper over closet doors. Any of these suggestion but keep in simple and serene. Please send me pictures after you have finished.

Bamboo or reed "reed" (mat) on the floor. We did this in my daughters room...We removed the head and foot boards from her bed and painted her old bedroom set a black enamel, one wall was painted (or you could paper) bright red. I know that if you hit some garage sales or thrift stores you can find "statues" that you can bring home to paint appropriate colors. We hung a large open paper umbrella from one corner. on the red wall I stamped some japanese chops (symbols--from the craft store) in gold paint that I dabbed the majority of the paint from,,,,and, of course, we got a bonsai! Happy to answer any questions. The room was streamlined an clutter free.

You could also remove the closet door and hang a Shoji door. Or you can make a Shoji screen and paint an apple blossom motif on it. The paper is translucent and is called shoji paper. Some people call it rice paper but shoji paper really has nothing to do with rice. Traditionally shoji paper (washi) was made of Japanese mulberry tree called Kozo or shrubs called Mitsumata and Ganpi. Anyway, soft muted colors and pretty flowers.

Find a lovely grey interesting branch. Tie little bits of crepe paper in a soft pink. Stretch the crepe paper ends out in the shape of a blossom. Instant cherry blossom Get creative. Hang on a wall or put in a vase.
