Painted Vintage Buffet

Front Porch Fix-Ups
by Front Porch Fix-Ups
I picked up a great vintage buffet off of my local Facebook swap page. It had great bones, it just needed a new look! My husband had seen some great red buffets on Pinterest so I took his suggestion on this one.
In progress pic (I always forget the before!)
I always forget the before pic!! I removed the doors and drawers and gave everything a good cleaning and used wood filler to fill in some of the areas that had chipping veneer. Then sanded the whole thing down and cleaned again.
Then the fun part! The painting. After a coat of primer, it still took 4 coats of the red to get good coverage on this one. Red is one of those colors that will generally take an extra coat or two to get good color. I then added a black glaze. There was some missing hardware so I stole some pulls off of another piece I had and sprayed them black to match.
Followed up with a top coat, and put it all back together. The pictures just don't do it justice! Unfortunately, photography is not one of my best skills. And I didn't straighten the pulls before taking this pic!
Again, crooked drawer pulls! Ugh! But this girl turned out beautiful and it didn't take long for her to find a new home.
