From Drab to Fab Drop Leaf Farmhouse Table
by
The Painted Drawer by Suzanne Bagheri

I picked up a very old drop leaf table that was in great shape structurally but obviously worn, dirty and scratched up. It had gorgeous lines and I knew with some TLC, it could be gorgeous again. More on the process and pics on the blog www.thepainteddrawer.com
Here is the before pic. The pine is super thick and the bottom has an interesting design to it. The two sides drop down and work well. Other than being pretty beaten up and filthy, it was in good shape.
Here is the after! The top has been stripped, sanded and stained in a weathered gray wood stain and the bottom painted in creamy white paint and distressed.
The bottom's detail really shows now that it has been highlighted. I think you can see here how the top's sides were slightly rounded for comfort.
Here is a closeup of the bottom.
When the leaves are down, the table becomes quite narrow. Perfect for a smaller space.
This pic shows how thick the wood is. Beautiful.
What a fantastic find!
I also stained underneath the table. I love the driftwood feel to it.
From drab to modern farmhouse fab!

The Painted Drawer by Suzanne Bagheri on Jul 02, 2015Wow! I love hearing the history of my "finds"! It is a gorgeous and well built table and I am sure that your son and his wife will get many more years of use out of it. I wish I had found the benches too! Thanks so much!
