Little Red Garden Chair

Country Chic Paint
by Country Chic Paint
Don't you just love a good garden makeover? Check out this piece by Robin from Redo It Yourself Inspirations in Devotion and antiquing wax. It adds just the right pop of color to her summer garden decor!
This old chair with a carved seat is a thrift store find. It's solid. No repairs needed.
Someone previously gave it this black and gold paint job. It appears Early American Colonial; revived 1970's style.
I really wanted to paint this chair red and put it in the flower gardens for a bit country charm. There's something about red accents outdoors... it's so attractive!

I chose to use Devotion, by Country Chic Paint.
Sanding lightly to smooth out the old rough paint was just enough. Keeping it rustic, and in case any of the old paint showed through, it would go well with the red.
One coat, and a little while later, the bright red paint was fresh.
To tone it down and age the paint, I used dark antiquing wax. (Another personal finishing favorite!)
The wax sealed the paint nicely and defined the lathed lines in the spindles.
It looked nice sitting among the plants.
Can I say that I just love this color?!?!

With a few other pieces in mind, I'm going to use Devotion again. It made this chair so cute while giving the garden pond a punch of color.

so beautiful! Could you tell me, does the wax protect the finish from rain and outdoor exposure? I've never used it, but would love to try! Thanks,
