Repurposed / Upcycled Project: Rustic Pine cabinets were transformed into two modern style garden planter boxes. No additional lumber used.
These cabinets used to flank a large television as part of an entertainment center. We no longer used them and they were just taking up space. The idea came to me to make them into planter boxes.
Finished with a gel stain - General Finishes -Java color. Added several applications of an exterior urethane. Cut and installed aluminum angel for corners.
The raised panels were lightly sanded along the edges to give a weathered look and to allow some of the lighter color to show to compliment the end panels.
1/4" thick slats that had been on the back of the cabinets now are just a decorative detail on the ends of the planter boxes.
