Dresser Mirror Frame Into Chalkboard

A huge dresser mirror frame was at the curb. I grabbed it and brought it home.
Only to find out it's laminate.

Yuck.

Still, it would make an awesome chalkboard!
So I painted chalkboard paint on the mirror backing (mirror missing, probably why the frame was tossed.)

Then used chalk paint on the frame and trim-work.
Then lightly sanded with a foam sanding pad.

Clear waxed the black chalk painted areas and used dark antiquing wax on the red painted frame.
Using a wooden fruit tray scrap from my stash, I made cubbies.
I sanded the little cubbies and applied dark wax before attaching them to the board.
I used hot glue to hold them in place while screwing behind to secure them.
(Chalk dust)
Proof that laminate can be painted and appear antique! :)
