How to Refinish Furniture With Chalk Paint

When the seasons change, it's time to spruce things up around the house. Summer is no exception. To help you brighten up your home, our Creative Team member, Pam from The Birch Cottage is sharing the technique she uses to chalk paint furniture - including her recipe for homemade chalk paint.
According to Pam, "Chalk paint finish just says 'clean and fresh' to me, plus it gives furniture that cottage feel."
First, choose the piece of furniture you want to paint.

Next, mix together your chalk paint. Get Pam's homemade chalk paint recipe at: http://www.kenarry.com/refinish-furniture-chalk-paint/
With your paint brush, you’ll apply one coat of paint, starting at the top of the piece and painting with the grain. You’ll want to apply a nice thin even coat. Wait for the first coat to dry and apply a second coat of paint. If necessary, apply a third coat.
Once you’re through painting, you’ll want to sand your piece to remove any bumps or non-smooth spots. You can also sand any spots you want to distress.

Clean it and coat with polyurethane and you're have a beautiful "new" piece of furniture to enjoy in your home.
