For our granddaughters' outdoor summer wedding, we made the backdrop out of three upcycled doors and all these HUGE flowers. We LOVE the way they turned out!
Her mama used paper plates, copy paper, poster board, hot glue, tissue paper and coffee filters. Next are some process pictures and how they were made.
Inspiration from Pinterest, of course.
Paper plate in the center then two layers of petals, cut from poster board and hot glued for a 3D effect.
Differently shaped petals also from poster board on a paper plate base. The center is folded and fringed copy paper with some wired beads. The handle from a wooden spoon curls the petals nicely toward the center.
Coffee filters make the centers for these poster board flowers. Different petal shapes make totally different style flowers. The largest flower is 30" across!
This poster board flower had a hint of pink. So pretty! Curling the petals outward really added to the beautiful effect.
Foam board spacers "pop up" the top layer of petals. Since she was working with simple materials, trying different things was easy. See the coffee filter middle?
We hung them in my living room until the big day. What an impact they have indoors!
And here they are stapled in place on the door backdrop we also made for the big day! We added some simple paper garlands using the same poster boards and card stock for a bit of movement in the summer breeze. I grew the white flowers in urns in my garden just for this wedding. Lovely!
And here they are in "storage" on my bedroom wall until the newlyweds have a larger apartment. I love the mix of textures they add to my eclectic decor! Check out my blog for the full post....

I’m fixing to get married (2nd time) and we’re doing a small ceremony in our backyard. I have a really cute she shed that I think we’ll use to do the ceremony in front of. These will look awesome attached to the front of the French doors! Thanks so much for sharing!!
