How do I fix a cracked, leaky cement bird bath bowl?

Question

I have purchased two cement bird baths. Each time the bowls soon crack and the water leaks out. My birds and squirrels are thirsty! How do I fix the bowls so they hold water and the water won't be toxic for the animals? Thanks for your help.

i think you can use that spray liner thats in a can. im pretty sure its safe for animals and seals cracks excellent.

Lowes and Home depot oth sell an epoxy crack filler and sealer for concrete. It some in a large bottle and has a tip like a ketchup bottle so you can get into cracks and crevices. it will fill and seal the crack and allow you to apply a permanent sealer liner for you rbirdbath that shoul keep it from happening again.

Look for waterproof caulk that they use around bathtubs/showers, but make sure it isn't toxic to birds. You might have to call the manufacturer.

Depending on the size of your birdbath, you might want to consider placing a removable bowl or shallow bucket in the center of your birdbath and plant annuals in the birdbath around the bowl/bucket. Cement birdbaths are so difficult to keep clean and the removable bowl/bucket can be taken out and cleaned as needed. The cracks in the bird bath will then allow drainage for your plants! You will then invite butterflies and bees to have a little drink as well!

I tried numerous things that didn't work.  I sat a fern on top (which looked amazingly fancy) and bout a new bath for the birds.

I got waterproof calk as suggested. The birds and squirrels are now hydrated and happy again. Thanks everyone!

I painted mine with waterproof masonry paint. It's used to seal basements and it worked great.

Just the inside. The paint is thick but i used thres coats just to be sure. Its been several years and its still working just fine.
