Ceiling murals

I have cracks in my dry wall ceilings. Since the ceilings have no stopping place from room to room to room I'm redoing part and painting entails some1500 square feet of ceiling painting. Can't use the 'tin" ceiling stick ups to much area, and too irregular. Thinking of some cracked plaster/brick ceiling murals...???

Go for it! If you can do it on a floor why not on a ceiling? You could do like you said or a marble or aging effect too...cool idea http://www.concretenetwork.com/photo-gallery/site_26/07601-nj-concrete-concepts-of-nj-inc_34703/

The Victorians considered the ceiling the "6th Wall". Even they used wallpaper on their ceilings, quite busy, to coordinate with their walls. They, too, had many cracks to cover

@Sally I was thinking some kind of wallpaper.....but more irregular, so I didn't have to wallpaper 2000 square feet. I would even consider some kind of a large stencil.......trees?.......

Absolutely great idea....I did my laundry/utility area with a tin tile stencil and my bedroom with clouds and a dragon. It's another canvas...you just have to look up.

Stenciling or decorative painting, without a strict pattern would hide any imperfections. With your mention of trees, could you see using some theme from the side walls onto the ceilings? Your larger room could handle that without being in a tropical forest

    Don't rule out Anaglypta.

These are such great ideas! I I once used joint compound on a bathroom ceiling. just made a swirl pattern. It's really east & pretty fast. It has been up there for over 10 years.
