Adorable Table Top Garden Box From Reclaimed Trim

Recently, I planted a sweet little Mason Jar Herb Garden that has up until now, sat on my window sill. I really wanted something to put them in on the table top so we could easily smell all the wonderful aromas. Plus, this is the last month of the summer for The Cent-Sational Salvage Challenge, and this month is "your choice". I chose trim-$0.10 for pieces less than four feet at my local ReStore.
First, I cut my trim to fit the piece of lauan that I was going to use for the bottom and gave them a nice sanding.
Then I cut 4 pieces of scrap 1" x 1" pieces of wood for the corner posts, and 2 for the handles.
Using 3/4" brad nails, I assembled the box using the 4 posts as the frame.
Using 2" brad nails, I attached the bottom to the four posts.
Using glue and 2" brad nails, I attached the top pieces for the handles. These needed to be stronger since they are handles.
I filled in all the holes and gave it a coat of Minwax Dark Walnut.
It was super quick,, super easy, and not particularly precise, but it's rustic and I love how it turned out.
perfect to hold my Mason Jar Herb Garden.

So simple and yet looks like a million bucks. Someday we will make something like this too.

I love the imperfections especially. It looks like items in my grandfather's garage, which was a unique place to be.

    Thank you!
