  • Ld G, what chair are you trying to re-upholster? Dining chairs are fairly easy to work on. If you have a winged back chair then I'd suggest you take a class with Joann or Micheal's as doing this by yourself for the first time may be difficult to figure.
  • Ld, Reupholstering is not extremely complicated, but depending on the project, it does involve more than can be covered in a Hometalk post. Like many tasks, it is as much of an art as it is a "science"..... and the wonderfully talented reupholsters that make it look so easy got that way thru much experience. But, they all got started somewhere... and I applaud your interest in wanting to learn how to do it right. My wife and I took a class many years ago. Even with my background in working with tools, it was new territory for me... and the class proved to be both valuable and fun. If you can't take a class or they aren't available, I recommend doing a search on Bing or Google for "upholstery video". There are a number of "show you how" videos that are a whole lot easier than trying to learn it out of a book.
