Upcycled Thrift Store Purse Hanging Planter
I purchased a purse at a thrift store a while ago. The purse was very interesting looking and had at least two projects that I could do with it. Here is my second project using that same thrift store purse, an Upcycled Thrift Store Purse Hanging Planter
I must say, this turned out better than I had expected. I did want to incorporate more plants this summer, and even though mine is faux, you can definitely sway it for real plant life.
Here is the purse I started with. I immediately soaked the purse in coffee grounds to give it a little more antiqued look. I removed the netting and used it for another project. Take a look at it here, http://www.casawatkins.net/2015/04/3-things-to-repurpose-for-spring-table.html.
For the purse planter, I started by opening the bottom of the purse. I snipped one of the raffia pieces and the rest was able to open. Then remove the purse lining by inverting the bag and cutting it out. I left the zipper to hold the planter pot in place. Then gather the bottom with a band or string and tie off.
Insert your planter pot and your plant. I used a white planter pot to compliment the ivory look of the raffia purse planter.
Then simply hang it up and enjoy. Easy Peasy!
I added my purse hanging planter to my dining room gallery wall. I love how it brings in some greenery and a little boho flair. The best part of this project is that you can have all sorts of looks depending on what purse you use. Don't let those purses collect dust, upcycle them into hanging planters!
