Design ideas for refinishing this table

I scored this table at Goodwill for $11, and I'm trying to figure out what to do with it. It's not in awesome shape, as it has some scratches and scrapes on it, but I figure if I go with an antique-y or distressed design, it should be fine. I'm thinking either black stained top with Parisian grey distressed chalk paint on the legs, or just the Parisian grey distressed chalk paint all over. Thoughts?? Thanks!

Do you have a spot picked out for it or will this be strictly a buff and fuff for resale? If for resale ...shopped like pretty things that have a purpose. I found an entry table that must have been from the same place lol. There was just enuf room to add a shallow drawer. Glued some filigree looking wooden accent pieces then painted and wiped down for the shabby look. I wonder if you can add some sort of shelf ....maybe a couple of inches above the leg curve....

@Mimi It's actually for my living room, so I don't need it to be any more functional than just a table ;)

What are your other furniture finishes in your living room now? Are you trying to tie the look of this piece in or make it a stand-a-lone piece? That could influence the choice you make on how you refinish it. Staining the top to tie in with your existing furniture or doing all chalk paint finish for a stand-a-lone. Great piece! Great score! I love Goodwill...

@The Redesign Habit It's a pretty plain living room right now - mostly neutrals, so it really wouldn't matter either way. But I'm thinking the black top will make it pop more :)

Having the darker top sounds like just the thing to add some interest in your room then! Post a pic when you're done please, would love to see it!

Here's my 2 cents...First thing that popped into my head...Working w/ the curves & decorative pieces on the table...I would paint it black then decoupage pictures of the starlets of the 30's - 50's...Marlene Dietrich, May West, Jean Harlow, Rita Hayworth, & Bettie Page. It would be a conversation starter for anyone who saw it...Just my thoughts.

I just found one just like it! I cleaned it and wiped the legs with stain to touch up. Sanded the top lightly and psipainpainted with home made black chalk paint. Then I sealed it with 3 coats of Varathane Matte Polyacrylic. I love it! Have fun with yours!

Finally got around to refinishing it - ended up just doing black stain because it was easier. Might do something else later ;) Excuse the laundry ;P
