Do you have a stack of random sized postcards or photos or other momentos laying around that you have no clue what to do with? I had that problem too. I bought some vintage Detroit postcards with the intention of hanging them, but could never find the right size matte frames, and when I used different sized picture frames I didn't like how non-cohesive it looked.
Initially I didn't even think of custom mattes because I've always heard they are expensive to have done, but I decided to go for it myself and, well as you can see, they turned out pretty amazing!

And you'd never guess these matte frames were a DIY project!

The postcards look great. Everything is uniform, which lets my pretty vintage Detroit Skyscrapers shine on!

Yes I was wondering what I could do with them. I too, have old postcards of Detroit landmarks. Looking forward to trying this!

Very nice and uncluttered looking wall art. Thanks for the idea. I’ve been looking for an idea to display some of my fun NYC pics.
