Doing some research for my grandma. She saw this one day while we were scrolling through pinterest and I've had the hardest time trying to find details on how to grow/create this...any suggestions. Her specific questions was on how they did her head...
I saw these at the San Diego Botanical Gardens They had all sorts of living sculptures. I feel they made the sculptures out of chicken wire.. and then grew succulents on them
I have seen head planters for sale... kinda pricey. I saw a method to make one using a styrofoam wig head and hypertufa or concrete. I love planted "heads."
If I were doing this I would try to find a mannequin at a place which sells used store fixtures. Then I'd spray paint it with terra cotta colored paint, cover it with chicken wire and a mixture of wet soil and moss, then plant.
A good garden shop would likely have one of the chicken wire forms, or be able to get one for you. They are a bit expensive, however they last for years.

Chicken wire form, Styrofoam wig head, then moss for tucking succulents in.
What did they use for the main form to hold the wire.? Where would I find how to do this.?
