DIY Ship Lap Entry Wall

We have a tiny entry at our front door. I wanted to add some interest to it so we decided to add some faux ship lap to the left wall.
We removed all of the trim and had the home improvement store cut our sheets of plywood down to 6" planks.
Then, we used quarters as spacers and started nailing the planks to the wall. You can see all the details on how we did the wall on my blog post here: http://www.mycreativedays.com/diy-ship-lap-entry/
This wall only took one afternoon to do. I painted it the color of the rest of the entry and am still deciding if I am going to hang anything back up on the wall. What do you think? It is hard because people walk up the stairs and kids always have their hands on the wall so I get worried about things falling off the wall.
This did add a lot of interest to our entry. I am so happy we did it!

Did you cut all the pieces the same length?
