Our Debt-Free Kitchen Makeover

When we first bought our kitchen two years ago, the walls were painted a burnt-pumpkin orange and the previous owners had installed a glass tile backsplash with black, gold and ivory hues. Since the kitchen is the heart of our home, I was determined to give the space a cozy and playful makeover on the cheap. To come up with the funds, we had a huge yard sale and believe it or not, I paid for everything with cash.
*The refrigerator is a new addition. We completed this makeover two years ago.
We painted the walls in Sherwin Williams Popular Gray.

The upper shelves are painted in Sherwin Williams Pure White. They were originally Annie Sloan Old White but I wanted something more white and less cream.

The lower shelves are Annie Sloan Duck Egg Blue.

We removed the doors to make the space feel more open and installed school house style lights from Home Depot.
The sink and butcher block counter tops are from Ikea. The beadboard backsplash was free remnant we picked up.
In full, we spent less than $1,000.
