Upcycle VHS tapes & cases??

Nikki
by Nikki
While cleaning out my Mom's storage space, I just found a box of old employee training videos that she used for her now closed business. Normally I would try to donate something like this & move on but Mom was uneasy due to contracts she has with former partners etc. ...
To make a long story short, I now have 20 old VHS tapes & cases that I don't want to just trash.
Any ideas???

I have seen VHS tape used for crochet. One item was a cover for a car. I have tried crocheting with it but it is a bit stiff. I used a large hook and lots of muscle power! Check pintrest as I am sure that is where I first saw this idea.

Put one in your recorder, and hit record(you might have to put a piece of tape over the back corner to allow it to record). Then just record over the material without having it connected to anything.. I have recycled tapes using this method before.. Hope this helps.. R

Run a strong magnet over the case, often this will erase what's on it.

Hi, I would connect the cases together to form a square or rectangle and then deco podge or stencil unique design to hang on wall.

You could use bits of the tape in the garden to keep birds from pecking the fruit. Weave it to make something with. Use it to hang your Christmas cards on.

The cases can be used as picture frames and then the inside for a keepsake related to the picture. People actually crochet with the tape. Never done that, but I read about it all the time.

I found old books that were same width as the box. Then I removed the pages of the book and glue the vhs box inside the book cover. Now I have a secret hiding place to add to my other books on the shelf. Great for spare cash, gift cards etc.....

You can glue them together to make things like furniture and art, or even turn them into lights! You can also use individual parts of VHS tapes for other practical purposes, like wrapping gifts, spooling thread, or storing art supplies.
