Sometimes a shower curtain rod will fit over ---I broke my corn broom handle and a shower rod fits over-- had it now over 7 years

A photo showing how it's broken would help since I know there are knobs/controls for getting the umbrella up and down that could make one idea work and another not.

if you broke whole pole agree with linda bridge.. i added a axel , ( think that is what friends son used).. is a round very heavy disk and he put a rod in it about 4 to 6 inches long painted it black.. put my umbrella pole in it.. now nothing can blow it away..

I used metal braces and placed them of two sides of the wooden dowel, along with wood glue and it worked great! Leave the metal braces on for added stability.

I've had luck with Gorilla tape on broken shovel handles. Just run the tape up and down the pole like a baseball bat's tape.

I had a new patio umbrella with the pole missing that I found set on the curb for the trash man. I saved back the core role from two long rolls of heavy duty aluminum foil, and used duct tape to affix it around an old mop handle. The cores helped it fit into the umbrella hole. Still standing well, as the duct tape helped seal the codes from moisture during rain! It's even blown over several times and still works!

Or replace the broken pole with a wooden dowel from the hardware store the same diameter? They can be purchased in varying lengths.

Drill a 3/8 hole in both sides of the broken pole make sure they line up and insert a 3/8 wooden dowel in the holes and glue them it works great and pretty cheap too

try slipping the broken pole into a slightly larger piece of PVC pipe (which you could paint to any color you want. It won't break again.

We used an old rusty pipe to put in the ground that was hollow and had a hole threw it. The top part umbrella is very sturdy and strong and fit right in..

Depends on how big it is. I took my travel bottle of Listerine after I finished and cut the top and bottom off. Slipped the broken pole right in and there you go. Working great at least for the moment.

I believe we call those T-posts in America. If not they sound very similar and would likely do the same job. They are metal posts for putting up livestock fence.

Buy a piece of pc pipe just a bit larger than the pole, put it in the pipe and cut of the extra pipe. You can paint it to match or in an accent color.

I bought a display umbrella missing the lower pole, so I used pvc. The original was 1-1/2”, so 1-1/2” pvc fit over it. I just had to cut a hole for the button and put some foam around it since it’s a little loose. I can just put it into the ground wherever we want it. Haven’t painted it yet.

Hello. I wonder if the diameter of a wooden closet rod would be a suitable replacement part? PVC might be a better alternative to be weather proof in exterior applications.

If the pole of your deck umbrella is broken, there are a few creative ideas you can try to make it stand up again. Here are some suggestions:

    1. Duct Tape or Zip Ties: If the break is not too severe, you can use strong duct tape or sturdy zip ties to bind the broken parts of the pole together.
    2. PVC Pipe Sleeve: Purchase a PVC pipe that fits snugly over the broken portion of the umbrella pole.
    3. Wooden Dowel or Metal Rod: If the break is near the top of the pole, insert a wooden dowel or a metal rod inside the hollow part of the pole.
    4. Bucket with Concrete or Sand: Get a sturdy bucket or planter and fill it with concrete or sand. Insert the broken end of the umbrella pole into the concrete/sand mix, and let it set.

Check out this how to fix patio umbrella pole guide to perform these operations.
