Can anyone help me identify these purple plants?

Question

We received some of these purple plants from a friend, they are growing in his backyard.  I mentioned that I liked them and he pulled some out of the ground for me and told me to stick them in a the ground and the hey would grow.  He didn't know what type of plant they were though and I'd like to identify them do I can learn more about them.  Thanks!

Looks like a 'Wandering Jew' to me, too. It also comes in different color combinations. They do indeed multiply and wander; I don't know, however, if they need unleavened bread. They are fairly easily removed if they take over a bit and also easily rooted in water if you want them someplace else. They are lovely in hanging baskets because they trail beautifully.

It's Wandering Jew. It will grow into big showy clumps that will add some color during all three growing seasons. Just cut it back if it takes over.

This is the purple Wandering Jew plant; there is also a green version that has small touches of purple on the leaves. I have the purple planted in the ground under a tree  (in the left one-half of the soil) and the green variety (on the right side side). It is quite striking.

These plants, once started, never seem to let go; be careful, they show up everywhere in the yard. As long as I keep them within a boundary (brick, plastic edging), these plants behave themselves. However, even a small piece of the plant, when dropped indiscriminately (they snap off in sections easily), can start these plants anywhere and everywhere. I love them, so that doesn't matter to me. You might be of a different mind.

It is indeed a Wandering Jew and the white thing sticking up out of the ground next to it is a hand (just couldn't resist)!

The name is Purple Heart. In my zone it is used outside in the summer and inside in the winter

Perhaps they are the same? I have older ones in my garden so they look different when mature but it seems that what they started out like.
The hand would be great for Halloween.

I use these trailing plants in pots with other plants. We live in a cold climate so I bring pots out in summer but back inside in the winter. They grow like crazy and have nice little flowers year round. Enjoy.

That purple plant is a perennlal Wandering Jew. It does very well growing in the shade. It dies back in winter and comes back every spring.

Noah in a Boat and Moses in a Basket are the same plant but different from the Wandering Jew in that the Wandering Jew can be planted outside.
