Help! Anyone know the brand/manufacture name of this crib? Age?

I am trying to find information on this metal baby crib for my daughter. I know it is a drop-side crib which is no longer safe to use (and also no longer sold in the US). However, it will be retrofitted so that it is safe, and repainted with a safe paint. Please look at the images (it was taken apart and put back together correctly after the pictures were taken). I believe the bed and changing table are around 10 yrs old. Both items are extremely heavy and well made. Thanks for your help.
Baby bed is metallic grey with gold highlights. A brown antique finish was applied last.
My younger daughter calls this bed "baby jail".
Detail on changing table.

Someone was looking for the name of a flower. In answer to her question, someone said do a "reverse image search" on Google. So I copied your picture and I tried it . At first it didn't work but then it said put a descriptive word in and I did - 'crib' and I found 4 images that are very close to it. Hometalkers are the best!

one of the main thing is to make sure the side slats aren't too wide, Other than that, if your'e going to paint it etc. what's the problem?
    • Bonnie Bonnie on Aug 15, 2015
@Lyn Philips At the top of the posting she wrote that she'd like help in identifying the maker/manufacturer and the origin of the crib...

@Ann You're right - I just noticed the bars on the side (in the example I sent) don't loop around at the top like the ones in your photo. Darn! I was hoping I'd found the right one for you. Beautiful cribs and furniture on that website - pricey, too! LOL! Yikes! I hope you find what you're looking for. :)

Please be sure to do more than simply repaint. The piece should be sand or water blasted to remove the old paint since you have no way to know what the old paint content is. Babies can easily teethe through the new paint you apply revealing the potentially harmful paint beneath. As we all know, many, many products imported as recently as 5 or 10 years ago contained lead paint.

@Jeani Miller Miner Thank you for your concern. However, all safety issues have been addressed.

You can put small or medium size of dog to stay inside the crib.. It is beautiful!! Instead of put baby in old crib is not the best. Just idea for dog guard?

We our pet lovers. I would put period dolls in it.

I have not a clue as to Mfg., I do however know turn of the century furniture. Do NOTHING to deface or spoil the well kept baby bed. With the side that lets down for entry against the wall, this very valuable piece can be used for 3-4 months as intended. An infants bed. Use thick baby bed bumpers around the mattress, smooth mattress and only an infants sheet. You do have a treasure. If you have the resources to have it restored, it could be kept in your family for 100+ more years. Needs springs, mattress and nontoxic finish.

Looks like some of the iron beds I've worked on from the 1800's. The casters are they new plastic type or wood/metal may have been adapted for new style if plastic. These are usable just that the uprights were to far apart on some so a baby could get stuck, the castings where also in some cases not finished and had rough or sharp spots.

No clue on mcg but beautiful piece. Would make a very pretty day bed/bench when done using as a crib

Wow Ann, if this is a fact, someone expended a lot of time and energy for a measly amt. of money. So many reproductions being turned out. Must be careful on all purchases on line!!

We have the EXACT same crib and changing table. I bought it last year from a lady who had purchased it new 10 years ago from a department store but she couldn't remember which one. Mine also has no markings or labels. Weird part is that we're from Baytown also! The lady I bought it from was in Sugatland. Small world!
  • Stephanie Manley Stephanie Manley on Feb 19, 2016
By the way how did you end up retrofitting it so that the side was fixed?

I bought this exact crib the end of 2004 at Sears in San Jacinto Mall, Baytown, TX. I used it for both of my kids born in 2005 and 2011. I still have it.

Do you happen to have assembly instructions? Struggling to find any info on this crib!!

  • Ann Ann on Apr 09, 2016
Thanks, if possible could you send a clear picture of the part that holds the crib springs up? Next to a ruler please. As you can see by the pictures there are mending plates holding it in place. But I am still trying to find the correct part. Can you hit the follow button when you click on my name? So I can send a private message. Thanks

Does anyone have a manual on how to put this crib together? I have been unable to find anything and am really struggling trying to figure out how to put it together haha

  • Darlene Darlene on Feb 03, 2018

I am also looking for manual. I received this as a gift for my son in 2003. It was carried by JC Penney then. When I disassembled it, I broke it and was able to get replacement parts when I gave it to my sister-in-law to use for her grandchildren. I got it back and gave it to my brother for his grandchildren and just received it back and am giving to to my niece's mother-in-law for her grandchild. Somewhere the manual has been misplaced and I was hoping to find it. Neither my sister-in-law or brother were ever able to get the side to work so it has always stayed put, but I would still like the manual. I instantly fell in love with it when I saw it, and am so happy that so many beautiful babies have been able to share it.

This is gorgeous! I would not paint it. White or pastel colored bedding would make this furniture pop!
