Fab Furniture Flippin Contest August: Icing On The Cake
When I heard the team was collaborating with D. Lawless Hardware, I couldn't help myself. I had to join in.
This is an adorable desk for a young boy's room. But it wasn't always so cute.
When I brought it into my garage it was a drippy, sticky mess. Under the icky mess was solid wood and a great frame. It was a beautiful piece in need of some love.
The contest for August is "Icing On The Cake." We were challenged to create a "jazzed up" piece with a little something extra, an embellishment of some sort, whether new hardware, cork, tile, decoupage, gems, etc.
I chose pizazz in the form of plaid. I have a major soft spot for plaid, and this pattern is perfect for a little guy's room.
We added accessories on top. The books belonged to his Dad. The dinosaurs are old friends that he rarely plays with anymore but I can't bring myself to pack them away yet.
I chose these label cup pulls from D. Lawless, and eventually we will insert labels.

I love the combo blue plaid and green, was there another reason other then you like the look of wood for leaving it exposed? You did a beautiful job and it turned out great.
