My brick has browns and oranges. I need advice for painting my front door.
I'm considering the top shade of orange.
This is my front door. The front door at present is dark green and it doesn't show up. There is a storm door. Also.

Nice house! The gray shutters look nice....maybe you could do another shade of that for your door? You're right about dark colours on a front door, often leave a gaping hole look. Orange, peach and salmon tones are really difficult to work with. They can end up looking really pink or pumpkin orange (speaking from experienc :( )I know where I live that 1st shade is considered really dated. But if you live in a coastal or warm area, it might be all the rage. Are there more neutral tones in your brick, like a warm taupe? It is hard to see what the different colours in the brick are from the pic.If you really love it, why not choose 2-3 sample pots, pulling the colour from your bricks, and live with it for a few days? I know any time I chose a strong exterior colour from a paint chip, I ended up regretting and redoing it. It just isn't the same as picking interior shades, which I have often chosen right in the store with no issues.

I would suggest bold and do the bottom, darkest orange. We have light orange brick and chose a light green for contrast. The color is "Recycled Glass".

I would take the paint chip outside and in light see what will make a statement to emphasize the door.I would not go to dark just enough color to tie everything in.

My neighbors have an all brick front. They just painted their front door black. I thought they were crazy! But now that it is done it looks very classy. One of my favorites on the street.

@Carroll A It is nice when there is no porch or portico...Unfortunately it is not so nice with less light and a storm door. My friend's place looks great with a black door, mine is awful.

black is to dark on this porch .It has no light .I dont agree.

@Janet Pizaro Especially since she said the green she had was too dark.

If you want your front door to 'pop' yet compliment the orange brick go for blue. A deep blue such as cobalt blue (not dark blue) or even an aqua or turquoise or teal blue would look nice. It compliments orange very well. BTW, I feel and this is my own personal opinion, that painting the door orange would be a huge mistake. It would be lost amongst the orange brick and would do nothing for the overall look of the house.

I agree with Carole. We have red and orange bricks so we painted shutters and garage doors navy blue and added an orange front door. Looks great if I say so myself! But on your house I'd do the door blue. It would be very classy.

The color of a front door can speak volumes about the people inside. This post can help you pick the best color for your home: http://goo.gl/DtxTZ9

Would do the same white as on your window trim so it's more cohesive with your posts. I'd also add some elements to break up all the brick around the door. Maybe a chair or large pot for shade-loving plants like impatiens. I'd probably do mixed pinks/reds which can be very striking with orange tones in your brick.

I have a darker orange, red and brown brick house with white trim. I painted my front door plum purple with matching flower pots. My shutters are grayish brown so I left them alone.

Green with orange. But a light shade since the door is shaded under a porch. Use orange in your flower beds, accent furniture or pots.

My neighbors just painted there front door and they have a brick ranch house old red brick. she went with a color really close to the blue reflection in the top right hand corner of your photo on the window, it's like a vintage Lisbon Blue color.

I like the idea of using the white color. It will make it pop and balance the white columns. Adding a nice large plant in the right side would be very helpful.

Yes I agree, stay lighter, otherwise it will get lost in the shadows

From your picture the house appears to be browns, I would do one of two things depending on your spirit. If you want to not stand out and or draw the orange out of the bricks as you get close to home, go for ivory. If you want people to do a double take, I would go with àn aqua, it goes great with orange keeps it toned down, and from street would cause anyone to look twice. I would do cream colored shutters so as to not take away from door yet not fade away either.

Teal. With cream shutters. Shades of yellow for your chairs or flower pots. Lovrly
