DIY Modern Farmhouse Reading Light

This modern farmhouse light fixture is gives us just the right amount of light for that corner of the sofa that is always too dark for reading. And with the supplies that I have chosen it is extremely versatile and can be created to fit any style!
It started off with this cloth cord kit that I saw online. It came in 16 different colors and styles and I had to give it a try! I bought a basic cage for the light bulb and spray painted it black to match.
Then I needed a way to hang or drape the cord. I went to my local lumber yard with a sketch of what I was thinking and we ended up finding this piece of scrap wood that is used to ship the lumber. He cut two pieces for me and I had the perfect solution using free wood!
We attached the two pieces with an extra long drywall screw and then gave it two coats of wax, in different finishes.
Finally it was ready to mount to the wall and have the cord wrapped around. The end result is just the right amount of light for reading, in a style that is perfectly me! Make sure you head over to see all of the details and to find my source list!
