It seems that these little succulent plants are appearing everywhere these days. When I brought the plants home to use in my planters, my college bound daughter told me they are all the buzz in dorms and apartments.
So when I had a bunch of these old feeders, I knew what I was going to do with at least a couple of them!
I washed them up well, let them dry and gave them a spray coat of poly. (Makes the rusty patina "pop" and will protect it a little against further rusting)

I put some pea gravel on the bottom and added my soil blend. (I mixed potting soil with sand-about 3:1)

The plants, I found at a big box, DIY store and was able to actually separate them and use one plant in a couple of pots/planters. There's an array of these cute little plants too! . Once they were in the soil I gave them a light watering and put them in the sun!!
I didn't stop there....

I dug out some of my insulator cups I had and planted some in there too!!

Adding a bit of the pea gravel to the top and a sprig of dried baby's breath finished them off!

A quick, cute way of up cycling some of my old "junk" with adorable little "trendy" plants!
