Have an Outdated Entertainment Center? Do THIS With It!

I bought this entertainment center for my husband for our first Christmas we were married. It cost around $100 and that was A LOT of money for us. We didn't need it anymore but I couldn't bear to part with it since it held so much meaning for us. Then I had a GENIUS idea!
I bought this entertainment center for my husband for our first Christmas we were married. It cost around $100 and that was A LOT of money for us. We've since then gone to a flat screen and wanted to get rid rid of the heavy TV in our room, but I couldn't bear to part with it since it held so much meaning for us.

When I told my husband my idea to turn it into a fireplace for our bedroom, he thought I was a bit crazy. But after mulling it over for a few days, he told me he had a "plan" in his head and we set to work. The first step was to paint it white. Then we began cutting tile...
And laying tile for the backing of the fireplace... (our first tiling project EVER!)
I think it turned out great!
We attached the back to the entertainment center using "L" brackets.
That backing was heavy!
Visit the website to see the rest of the details and see the end result! This was such a fun project that allowed us to keep a meaningful piece of furniture that was no longer useful to us.

We LOVE how it turned out! Also visit the post to see about the "fire" part of the fireplace!
