I agree with @Moxie and @Tracy Hudson it is amazing what paint can do! Even on this site there are amazing transformations! I made a board about the numerous examples because they blow me away! http://www.hometalk.com/b/7127137/paint-does-wonders I would start with a patterend curtain panel or rug, and chose colours out of the patterns, since the people who designed them already did the work for us--everything goes together. I would choose 1 main colour, and you can choose a 2nd coordinating one (it may even be the colour of wood furniture) and possibly a 3rd in accessories or throw pillows. IMO, any more than 3 starts to look busy. If your place is small, you can choose a colour that repeats in other rooms in some way. ie: your throw pillow colour can become the wall colour in another room, the colour of your accessories mught be your bathroom colour etc. That way, each room is different, but flows. Another easier option would be to paint all your walls a light neutral and change each room with different accessories for pops of colour. Have fun!!

Start with one room at a time.Thinking of course a color scheme. If your rooms are open to one another you can blend a color scheme. Questions are what colors do you like. Do you like to experiment with different ideas> If thats the case I will tell you I love color. Every room in my house has an accent wall. Dark to light. You would be amazed how well it looks for not to much money. Let me know what you decide.

Several have mentioned painting, this is one of the quickest ways to have a change. Everyone is doing shabby chic now days or the Retro look with modern flair. Either isn't hard to create just look on Pinterest to get so ideas and use what you already have to change it up. Don't be afraid to try doing it , you can always put everything back to it's original place if you're not happy.

Look at tons of pictures. Pin only what you love. Declutter. Lighten and brighten. Paint. Update your lamps. Put all accessories in one place and "shop" from your own collection. Only have what YOU love. Good luck!

Update your decorative pillows and curtains with new colorful graphic fabric designs. Or go for the bold "world" prints out there. The pops of color will inspire you in other directions too.
