My husband works on a college campus. All over the campus courtyard someone has planted these trees. In the late spring/early summer the blooms are incredibly fragrant. Can anybody tell me what it is called?
This is what the tree looks like when it is blooming

Yes, it must be LINDEN. Here in Europe we have a plenty of them, they are lovely trees, beautiful smell.

Thank you! My husband just loves these trees....and they are planted all over campus. I think we're going to have to get one in our own yard! :) Appreciate the help!

Have u ever tried Linden Tea? Fabulous . As a child my mom used to make it to calm upset stomachs. We also drank it at night watching tv . Its smooth, can be drank with or without sugar; a drop of honey is great too. The fragrance is calming. Dry leaves and flower are used. My mom was Austrian and was something they drank at home. Try it.

Are those what in the UK are called plane trees? In Germany we have many linden trees, as well as the tea, and yes, we got it for upset stomach, with a bit of honey.

I think plane trees are sycamores.

@Jeannine Brouse I suspect you are right. Linden seem to be not quite as large as the plane trees. Saw some huge one in London recently, beautiful trees. Thanks for the info.
