Light Post Halloween Scarecrow

This quick decoration transformed our light post into a frightfully spooky Halloween scarecrow! The perfect way to greet of trick-or-treaters as they make their way up the front walk.
We used an old witches costume dress for the body and simply hung the dress over the light post. We attached large branches to create longer arms.
Using a "Funkin" or hollow foam craft pumpkin, we carefully carved a scary face, creating a Halloween jack-o-lantern. We made the hole in the bottom of the pumpkin large enough to fit over the light post topper.
At night... the scarecrow has a spectacular glow. To be safe, we switched our light bulb to a low watt, cool burning LED bulb. We only had our scarecrow "on" and glowing for a few hours each night and we checked to make sure the light stayed cool and it did.
Around the neck, we tied some decorative raffia. The raffia waved in the breeze adding to the overall look of our Halloween scarecrow.
This was a great way to add a little Halloween decor to our yard, without breaking the bank. For more information and photos, please visit the blog listed below.
