Is vinyl siding paintable? If so, what prep is needed and what paint product do you recommend?

  • As Steve said, yes it can. The prep is critical as vinyl oxides and can cause peeling issues if not properly prepared. Follow the directions carefully regardless of what brand you use. The only issue I ever had with painting vinyl is the overlaps on the seams. If you paint in hot weather the vinyl has grown on length,. When it cools it shrinks. When that occurs the edges of the siding will show up the older color. So a brush worked behind each seam is very important if you do not want vertical color stripes at every seam showing, Brand names other then the big box store ones should be used. You really need good quality paint designed just for this application.
