Face masks and glasses for eyesight don’t work well together most of the time. However you set the mask and the glasses, the glasses somehow always fog up.

If you’re all too familiar with those troubles, I got some good news for you. You’re about to learn how to make a mask that will never cause your glasses to become fogged!

The entire process is almost identical to sewing a regular surgical mask, with just a few slight differences. Follow the steps in this tutorial and you’ll have an anti-fog face mask in a flash!

Cut the fabric

The first thing you’ll need to do in this project is to cut out the fabric. Remember to wash and iron it thoroughly beforehand, to prevent future deformation or shrinkage.

Cut out a rectangle measuring 10 x 7.5 inches in size from the main fabric. Then cut out a square piece from the lining fabric, measuring 7.5 x 7.5 inches in size.

Join the layers of the mask

Place the two layers on top of each other with their right sides facing inward. Make sure to center the smaller piece over the larger one.

Stitch each long side to sew the two pieces of fabric together. Turn the mask inside out and press it.

Make the pleats

Set your mask on your workspace so that the long sides are on the top and bottom while the filter pocket is facing up.

Fold the top 1.25 inches down and press it.

Fold the mask in half from the bottom to the top. Press it.

Unfold the mask and fold it once again, but from the top to the middle crease. Bring the bottom to that crease too. Press the mask.

Unfold all but the topmost fold.

Overlap the fabric along the creases to form pleats. They should be going down on the outer side and up on the inner side. Press the mask to finish the pleats.

Finish the mask

Fold the side edge in a bit more than half an inch, twice, and press it. Sew along the fold to form a tube for the ear strap. Repeat on the other side.

Cut two strips into about 10 inches each. Thread them through the ear strap tube, tie them up, and your anti-fog mask will be complete!
