Curbside Suitcase Makeover

Hello Hometalk Friends! Today I'm sharing the trash to treasure transformation of something that was actually trash, as in I found it on the side of the road! What's better than free, right? I actually found two of these suitcases:
This is the smaller of the two, and here's what I decided to do with it...
Now it probably isn't ready to take on that flight to Hawaii you've been dreaming about, but perfect for a little extra storage, right? You can display it right out in the open.
I painted the case with DIY chalk paint, then taped it off with Frogtape for delicate surfaces, and added a couple of stripes.
And would you believe this is actually a stencil?
Visit the link to this post on my blog at the bottom for all the details on how to make a stencil look hand-painted, and find out where I purchased this one!
I sanded this one a little as well to give it a bit of a time-worn feel...
The inside got a fresh new look before as well. Here is the before...
And with a little of my favorite French inspired fabric from Hancock Fabrics:
Perfect for holding a couple of extra blankets...
I have always wanted to paint a suitcase and this was the perfect opportunity! For even more details, including how I lined it, visit the link to this post on my blog below. Have a great day and keep your eyes peeled...you never know what goodness you'll find on the side of the road!
