Painted Luggage/Suitcase

I have a mini suitcase that I've been meaning to paint to look like the painted vintage ones in cute antique stores.

You can do this project with zip up makeup cases, small satchels, or any leather suitcases!

Clean the suitcase

Clean the suitcase to wipe off any debris or dirt.

Start to prime suitcase

Make sure the suitcase is zippered shut. Start to prime front of suitcase and sides (if it has a deep color) with white primer.

Prime entire suitcase

Don't worry about painting the zipper or zipper pull. Once the front and sides have dried, prime the other side. Keep in mind to move the handle and zipper pulls to make sure all surfaces are covered.

Note: I placed the suitcase on top of wax paper since it was so humid out and the paint was sticky. This will keep the freshly painted suitcase from sticking to the drop cloth.

Start to paint the suitcase with the color of your choice
First coat of paint

Paint the front of the suitcase and all sides. Once the first coat has dried, spray the other side of the suitcase.

After everything dries, sand off any excess paint.

Paint second coat of paint on front and sides

Once everything has dried, flip suitcase over and paint other side. Let paint dry.

Decorate your new suitcase!

I placed a wreath on the front of mine.

What is the wreath added for? I like the little suitcase, it turned out really cute, but the wreath on it looks kind of odd and out of place to me. Is it supposed to look reminiscent of seaweed or something? I’m not trying to be mean or insult you, it’s creative, I just don’t see your vision. You are very creative, however, and I love the overall look of the table & decor. I have a friend who may like this setup, I’m going to send this link to her.
