How do I make my basement ausable living space?
my home was built in the mid 1940’s and has a mostly dry, full-house basement. I’d love to finish the space in a way that would make it less basement-like and more livable. There’s a toilet and a shower head that are begging to be used for a full bath situation- I just don’t feel confident enough to do it on my own and don’t have gobs of money to throw at it. Suggestions?

Make sure it’s dry, choose an area where you can put down carpet pad and carpeting. Look for large remnants.another section you can put down peel and stick tiles ( stone look, or wood look) . Check out donation centers for good furniture. Choose carefully don’t get just anything. Make a plank wall on one side , white soft paint, on the other walls, a large mirror to help reflect any light coming in.
I would have a contractor come in and give you an estimate to spruce it up. You can always paint or whitewash what is there and paint the floor too. Add area rugs and furniture if you're trying to do it on a budget.
