Ideas for a basement ceiling?

My home was built in the 60's and the basement is not finished, I have taken care of the walls and floor but don't know what to do with the ceiling. I would like to be able to do it without professional help.

A lot of work but you could paint it. I would have someone spray paint it. I've seen a black basement ceiling and it looked great. I would go with a grey to match the duct work but what ever suits your taste. White would be nice in a basement. Personally, I don't like the common ceilings that people put in basement. I don't like the wiring and pipes hid.
Thanks Nancy! I had not thought of that but that would give it a new look. I agree, I don't like the drop ceiling tiles and covering everything could just lead to problems down the road.
