Check to see if you need permits to do the work.heat, ac duct work or window air and electric heat, plumbing for a bathroom...codes vary by location. If it’s not”leagal” you may have to tear it down.
Hi, first things first. Start with your budget. You'll need to calculate in electrical, heating and cooling, wall, ceiling and floor material and insulation. If a contractor will do part of the job, his fee will probably double your materials budget.
Next off to the building code office. Find out what's needed to do your addition. If you have a contractor do the big stuff like electrical and heating and cooling, have them pull the permits. Make sure an inspector signs off on the project each step of the way. Good luck.
