I have gotten together with a group of talented bloggers, we will be creating a project and post about it each month. We call ourselves The Thrifty Chicks. What is different about this challenge is we will have a specific subject. This month the topic is chairs! And you know how I love to create things from chairs. So what can you make with an old chair?
I decided I would make a table out of the bottom of this old chair. But the top was not going to be an ordinary piece of wood. My eyes landed on fan blades and a table was born.  Three blades fit across the base of the chair perfectly.  But in order to make it a little more substantial, I used an old thin board and nailed it down.
After that was taken care of I nailed the three blades on top.  They spanned the rails so it is pretty sturdy.  Once the blades were nailed down, I used the nail set and tapped the nails in so they would not show.
When I paint a piece I always start by tipping it up and painting underneath.  When it is dry I flip it right side up and complete the paint job.  And I painted the entire piece in the gray.

When the chair table was dry I painted the painted the top white.  I liked it but it looked like it was missing something.  Then it came to me…a funky table like this needs a fun stencil.  And I had just the right one, “I Love You to the Moon and Back”!
To finish up this crazy looking table I sanded it and then waxed it. To learn more about how I worked on this chair table be sure to check out the blog post.
