A Cozy Farmhouse Bathroom Update

In my house, I have a beautiful guest room that I finished up last year. It’s such a great space, and it’s attached to a bathroom. So I wanted to make the bathroom just as beautiful, so my guests can have a relaxing spa-like experience when they come. There’s nothing worse than staying at someone’s house and having an icky bathroom to use. I wanted to create a modern farmhouse bathroom, like the style that I have going throughout my house.

Here’s the before:
Here’s the before:
Before pictures are always awful looking because you don’t care what they turn out like, right?  The bathroom wasn’t really that bad, just super gray and boring.

Planked Walls
Back in January, I started planking my upstairs bathroom.  I totally hurt my back after doing it though, so the rest of it is going to have to wait until after my baby is born.  But I love the way it looks so much, I want all my bathrooms to have this look!  Planking is actually not that difficult, especially using the tongue and groove panels.
I topped it off by adding a few robe hooks for towels.  It’s so nice because the towel bar fell off from day 1 and we could never get it to stay.  I think the hardware guy used screws that are too short, by the way, so if you have that problem, maybe it’s that.  Anyway, I added some brand new fluffy white BHG towels.  I only buy white towels now because it seems like the ones I’ve bought in colors always end up getting bleached out or stained or something.  I never have good luck with colored towels.
I decided to hang the sunburst mirror there for now because I tried to hang something larger there but it seemed to overwhelm this small tight space.  There is literally like two feet between the shower and the wall so I don’t want something screaming at you when you get out.  Maybe I’ll switch it to some cute found letters that say something like ‘WASH’ in the future.

Floating Shelf
I added a floating shelf in this one toilet cove (that’s a weird name for this space, don’t you think?) and I was planning on adding more, but since I’m also still planning on doing the rest of the planking , I will have to wait until that’s done to add a shelf below, if I decide to do that.
