Bathroom Makeover on the Cheap...

The Villa Bathroom had not been updated (with the exception of the porcelain tile which was installed in November '16) pink was the thing then I guess... it had a slab of mirror over the bathroom sink, and really ugly chrome strip lights over the slab of mirror.
The Villa came furnished (yuck) really cheap crap. The bedroom triple dresser had a large mirror and ugly pinkish furniture too. My TV sits on my dresser so the mirror was unnecessary to begin with. I measured the mirror, it almost fit perfectly around the mirror slab in the bathroom. I removed the mirror from the frame, painted the pinkish frame white and glued it right to the mirror slab. Total cost of the remodel was about $13.00.

I already had the semi gloss white paint, and the strip of LED lights so I'm not counting that in the cost but the lights were around $8 or $9 dollars. The light over the mirror was purchased at a garage sale for $3. I bought some glittery gold ribbon at Walmart for $2.89 and this is how it came out. The glue was $6.00 in Lowe's. This is how it was done.

Now it looks fresh and clean - dressed up it improves the whole look of the bathroom.

*** I did make a few big blunders, and never even considered the err of what I was doing until it was too late, and the mirror was glued on. If you try this idea, make sure that you paint the back of the frame around the opening, because if you don't paint it, you will see the back of your frame in the mirror, and it will show the wood backing.

I had to reinvent the wheel by taping up the mirror and squeezed paint in to the back of the frame with a sponge angle brush. Real pain in the butt... and I can still see places where the paint didn't quite cover and if it annoys me too much I may have to do a quarter round to cover the error. Also, in retrospect I would have used a silver glitter ribbon to match the hardware which is brushed chrome, or maybe should have cut molding to frame the frame... IDK.. it is what it is for now... until I get sick of it.
Glued painted frame directly on mirror.
Used elmers glue and put the ribbon on the mirror
Removed the strip lights, fixed the hole and wired the replacement light.
Painted the pink medicine cabinet white and drilled a hole for the knob ( which I also had) ...
Strung the LED lights down the side, and stapled it tight...
some decorating and it is complete
another view
finished the project
the lights, which are on a timer stay lit for 6 hours and go on at midnight to serve as a night light.
