DIY Bath Board SPiT'n Pretty in the Tub

10 Materials
Lately I've seen a great popularity in a Thing Called bath boards a little bath caddy that you can use to watch your Netflix have a glass of wine and just relax in a bubble bath.
I decided to throw my own little spin on it and create them with a beautiful product called unicorn spit not only is this product so versatile I can actually make these right inside right around my children it's safe non-toxic and smells great!

First thing I did was go to my local lumber yard and ask them to cut me a piece of fence bored down to about 30 inches I had pre-measured my tub to make sure that this would fit, this is usually a standard tub size in New home builds.
I got roughly three boards out of the 2x6 and this cost me approximately $5 per board.

Next from the center of the board I measured out enough space to fit an iPad and a phone on its side you can choose whatever size you'd like, I differed a few sizes with mine. Measure your device and give it at least a half inch on each side. I used a rooter with a guide to get consistent straight lines that I had pre drawn and measured out.

Next you need to measure out the inside of your bathtub leave about a half inch on each side so that the board will fit and move around easily without falling in.
I picked up a piece of wood out of the scrap pile at The LumberYard for I think a dollar for the whole peiece I cut it down to the measurements of three quarters wide, one and a half inch high, and three inches in length I used to these to make the feet. To attach them I applied wood glue and pressed it on my pre measured lines. You can choose to either clamp at this point and wait overnight or flip it over and use an air nailer and put two Nails in each foot like I did.

Once the feet are in you can then flip your board and cut out your wineglass holding hole just make sure the placement is not going to interfere with your board legs or your screen holes. For tools I used a drill make sure it's a powerful one as it needs to bore Through the Wood. I used a forstner bit to cut a circular hole through the board, the size I used was one and three quarters. I then used my skill saw to cut two straight lines into the hole I drilled so I can easily Slide the glass of wine into place.
Once finished sand all down to get any rough edges and make sure it is smooth.

This next step is completely up to you I really like the extra wood grain, extra rustic look to my boards so I used a torch and lightly scored the wood

This is the fun part you can basically let your imagination go wild take whatever color of spit you would like and start applying to the board with a slightly damp cloth this will ensure that the spit is on your board without overpowering so you still see the wood grain. Once your spit is dry I used tremclad clear oil based spray and sealed my boards after they were dry I once again went over the board 4 times with varathane professional clear finish satin water-based polyacrylic. I feel like it's a nice finish to the board to prevent water damage.

Done :)
