I didn't have anywhere to store my roller bottles, so I made this DIY storage block. Now they have a dedicated space in my home, and it just looks pretty.
I actually started the project with a log cut from a tree that was taken down at a building that we own. My husband cut and sanded it for me to use.
I wanted to preserve the grain since it was a special piece of wood, so that's why I chose the finish that I did.
We started by measuring the block and making a center line horizontally. Then we set the roller bottles on top to see how many would fit comfortably. Then we used a ruler to measure and mark off where the holes should be.
Then we measured the bottom of the roller bottles and selected a spade bit just larger than the bottles.
I wanted the holes the same depth, so we marked the spade bit with tape so we would drill that far in each hole.
I wanted the wood grain to show because it was cut from our property, but I didn't want to use a brown stain. I really wanted it blue to match the decor in the living room, so I watered down acrylic paint and brushed it on. It is thin, so the wood grain shows through.
Then I used my Silhouette Cameo to die cut a cute saying out of vinyl for the front.

I really love how it turned out! Now my most used roller bottles have a dedicated spot so I can grab them when I need them instead of them being all over and never being able to find them. Great idea. Some oils come with their own dropper. Need to store those.
