Anybody have some idea for storage above washing machine?

Hi, we have little space around washing machine and dryer, but we want to build something around and make storage space above. It shouldn't have doors or maybe only above where storage would be.
I would like something like this, but I'm not sure how to make it.
Can you make a 5-sided box out of plywood or pine boards? Measure the dimensions of the area that you've got and make a box to fit. Or several boxes. You can even go to a Lowes or Home Depot and they'll cut the box pieces for you.
Since it's going to be on top of the washer/dryer stack, it doesn't have to be the best carpentry around. You should paint it to fit the room. Once the washer/dryer is in place, you can attach it to the wall on either side with screws.

Can you take apart the black box you have in its place and use the top two boxes for storage above the washer/dryer combo? I think that could work out for you.

what about another storage space UNDER the unit, using something like a large plant base on wheels. you could push and pull it out as needed or even a tiny step stool for the above unit storage
