Most wall studs are 16 inches apart , why are towel racks not 16 or 32 inches wide ??? How to securely put up towel racks with out anchor bolts .

Wanted the towel racks above the beadboard

We found a piece of scrap lumber with a live edge that fit in the space perfectly ! My husband hates using anchor bolts and wanted a more secure way of attaching the towel racks to the wall . His idea was to attach the wood to the wall on the studs and then add the towel racks to the wood .

We put a coat of stain and few coats of clear coat sealer on the wood to protect it

Screw the wood into the wall studs

Now that the wood is securely attached to the wall , we can attach the towel racks to the wood !

Now the towel racks are super secure , no chance of them pulling out of the wall , like the old ones the previous owners had put in .

Now we hang the towels !

This was the final project in our master bathroom renovation.

We like the unique look and were happy to be able to secure the racks with out having to use anchor bolts !
